The Adobe Education Exchange, which has been an incredible inspiration to me over the last few years, has just been fully redesigned.  The new site is easier to navigate and publish, making finding and sharing lessons even more efficient.  ...and it looks slick to boot.

The new exchange also features discussion forums and badges to earn as you participate in different ways.

Badges?  Badges!  We don't need no Stinkin.... wait these are actually kinda cool...

There is no end to useful and creative ideas on this site- heck, reading the contributions from Mike, Judy and Nicole will keep you busy for days alone.

Currently, you will find lots of information about MyThology our current challenge, as well as links to our previous challenges and other fun stuff.  Of course, there's also a link to our bookstore - where the proceeds of our earlier books still go to benefit the Jacaranda School for AIDS orphans in Malawi.

My good friend and NBCT mentor, Kris Fontes, has posted a fantastic lesson on the Adobe Education Exchange that has gathered a lot of attention for the 2011 Educators' Choice Awards.   Based on the work of Ashley Gilbertson, whose photographic series documents the empty childhood bedrooms of fallen soldiers, Kris' lesson asks students to document the impression that is left by their own rooms. I think this would make another great collaborative project... perhaps we'll have more on that soon!

The new Adobe Education Exchange has some truly amazing resources, thanks in part to the recent challenge that they offered to submit your best digital lessons and ideas. Adobe has just announced that the winners are in.

I'm thrilled to announce that our first two projects from The Student Creative were both listed as 'runners up'! Paint the World With Light (buy your copy now, proceeds still benefit the Jacaranda School in Malawi) is our first book of student light paintings from 20 schools around the world. Our new project, Float, got a 'runner up' nod as well- even though we haven't officially begun! Congratulations to all the teachers that participated (and will participate), and especially to Matt Cauthron (another art ed rock star) and Mike Skocko, my co-conspirators collaborators on these projects. More news on Float coming very soon...

A big congratulations to Nicole Dalesio, who in addition to having three tutorials listed as 'runners up' won first prize for her tutorial on using Photoshop to make scratch art:

Nicole also submitted this tutorial on rotoscoping in Photoshop, which might be of great interest to anyone looking to try something new for The Rotoball Project.

Be sure to also check out her Vimeo page- lots of really creative uses of Photoshop to be found there through her fantastic tutorials. Congrats Nicole!
